FAQs

Why should you hire me?

I have years of experience of working in the restaurant industry, including opening restaurants in New York, the Hamptons and Miami. This work experience allowed me to learn a lot about myself as a person as well as working with a team. The most significant takeaway was the insight and understanding of the industry and making connections in the hospitality industry.

I speak Japanese fluently and conversational Spanish which allows me to communicate with my connections in Japan and Mexico about experiences related to planning your culinary travel.

I have traveled extensively throughout in Japan and Mexico. Additionally, I have visited both countries since the pandemic began and keep abreast on the the COVID restrictions of each country through local news and contacts.

What is the process?

If you’re interested in having me curate your next culinary trip to Mexico or Japan then you will schedule a discovery call with me. In the call I will see what is you’re seeking and if I can provide that for you. If we decide to move forward then I will begin my research to curate culinary trip to remember.

You will receive a preliminary itinerary 7 weeks before your trip. Once you've looked over the itinerary and approved it, you will receive your final itinerary 6 weeks before your trip. I allow ample time for you to book the accommodations I’ve recommended. Please note I do not book flights, accommodations, or restaurants reservations for you.

How long will it take till I receive my final itinerary?

Six weeks before your trip

What's the best way to communicate during this process?

Email is the best way to communicate during the trip planning process as well as during your trip.

Do you recommend travel insurance?

Yes, I highly recommend this. Many travel credit cards include trip insurance, however, most policies under these credit cards do not cover issues related to COVID-19 so it is recommended you get travel insurance before your trip.

Do I need a visa?

Japan: Japan hasn’t reopened for tourism yet

American passport holders will not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days. Your passport needs to be valid for the duration of your stay. Please see the US Department of State travel information for detailed and up-to-date information.

What if I’m planning something last minute?

While I would love to help you, these curated trips take time so that I can recommend culinary experiences best suited to your interests. Therefore, a “rush” job is difficult and I will not be the right person in this case. I will have digital city guides in the future that you may purchase if you choose.

What if I change my mind and want to go in a different direction?

Given the nature of this customized trip, this culinary travel plan is yours. I can absolutely start again, but it will incur a new fee.
